The Fear

Folks out here are scared. Like scared of everything. One of my Facebook friends expressed today that she hadn’t traveled that much because she has always had this paralyzing fear of flying. She had never been on a plane before until a few months ago and she’s 30.

Can you imagine having such an intense fear like that?

That’s really amazing to me. I used to be afraid of things, I think. I really can’t remember the last time I was truly scared of something. Like so scared of that it would stop me dead in my tracks. I’ve never been like that. I refuse to be like that.

There is nothing to be scared of or fear in life. What’s the worst that could happen? You could die. NEWSFLASH: We’re all going to die, honey. You may as well live your life to the fullest.

The thing about fear is people can’t accept that they are not in control. People that don’t fly are afraid because they aren’t in control of the plane. The people that I know that haven’t flown always mention a random plane crash as if people don’t die in car accidents every day. It’s the feeling of not being in control that fuels fear.

Anytime I feel nervous or fearful of something, I face it head on. There’s nothing like the exhilaration of conquering a fear. It’s like the best feeling. That’s probably why I love getting tattoos, flying and traveling solo. I’m also planning a skydiving trip.

People often tell me that I do things they wouldn’t do. But how do you know what you wouldn’t do unless you face your fear and try?

My advice is to stare your fear in the face & begin the steps to conquer it.

If you’re scared of heights, try riding a Ferris wheel. Or take an elevator to the top of the Sears Tower.

If you’re afraid of doing things alone, treat yourself to lunch at a café.

Don’t let fear hold you back.

I’m not afraid,
Veronica
